About 95% of China's foreign trade goods are transported by sea. Strong shipbuilding capacity is of great significance to the development of foreign trade. By November 2022, the number of new orders received and the number of completed projects accounted for 53.1% and 45.5% of the world's share respectively, and remained the first in the world. In the past, the technical strength of China's shipbuilding industry was weak, and there were many gaps in high-tech and special-purpose ship types. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China's shipbuilding industry has continuously improved its innovation capacity, accelerated its transformation and upgrading, and achieved multiple breakthroughs in the fields of super-large container ships, large liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships, high-end marine engineering equipment, and ship core supporting equipment. More importantly, China's shipbuilding industry has formed an efficient, collaborative, open and inclusive innovation system, and its innovation capacity has been continuously enhanced.
At present, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation accelerate the evolution, bringing opportunities and challenges to the high-end equipment manufacturing industry. China has the world's most complete ship product pedigree and general assembly supporting system, the largest ship production and construction capacity, and also has the advantages of scientific research and human resources, but we must keep up with the pace of technological iteration, and have new and great achievements in high-level technology self-reliance. The value of 24116TEU super-large container ship lies not only in breaking through the difficulty of construction, but also in having completely independent intellectual property rights and innovation. For example, the bubble drag reduction system is used for the first time, which can reduce carbon emissions by more than 6000 tons throughout the year; The shaft-belt generator system is used for the first time, which can effectively reduce fuel consumption. In the new round of international competition, China's shipbuilding industry should not only actively seize the market share, but also take the initiative to transform and upgrade, and gradually increase the proportion of high-tech and high-value-added ships in the order.
It is the goal of generations of Chinese shipbuilders to build large docks, build large ships and let Chinese-made ships sail the world's oceans.
